Established in Jakarta in August 2007, BWI (Indonesia) soon became home to Best Western Area Development of Indonesia office. It is a pioneering PDR (Property Direct Relation) office, reports to and funded by Best Western International head office in Bangkok, Thailand.
Under Mr. Jusuf Sawirin, Chief Area Development of Indonesia, with his capacity to drive and monitor all the chain’s properties throughout the continent, the areas of responsibilities of BWI (Thailand) office includes developing regional corporate and group sales & marketing programs, directing Indonesia hotel development, overseeing Best Western Indonesia’s sales and marketing efforts and supervising the implementation of member support programs & services. BWI (Thailand) Co., Ltd. in corporation with its dedicated Best Western Area Developers, and affiliates in region, Mr. de Souza directly reports to Mr. David Kong, President and CEO and works closely with William Dong, the Chief Representative for Greater China who oversees the branding efforts in China.
From its founding in 2001 through 2003, Best Western grew from 6 to 10 hotels, with three each in China, Korea and Japan, and one in Thailand. By 2006, this number skyrocketed to more than 90 hotels and resorts in 15 countries: Bahrain, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.
